CLOTHES MAKE THE … CHIROPRACTOR?

A recent study by Leduc in January 2025 concluded that what we chiropractors wear influences our patients’ perception of us, including your Oxford chiropractor at Satterwhite Chiropractic. That’s good for us to know! Scrubs make us look more knowledgeable, trustworthy, competent, professional and comfortable. White coats and formal wear came second overall. For women chiropractors, the white coat was more positive for them than when men wear them. (1) Interestingly, this clothing issue does not concern only chiropractors. A study in Saudi Arabia found that patients preferred surgeons who wore scrubs and white coats, relating them to hygiene, dedication, and expertise. (2) Beyond their attire, chiropractors are working to hone their professional identity to better interact other healthcare colleagues who – according to other articles like the surgeon attire article – also work to polish their image and identity for their patients and collegial interactions. (3) One paper boldly concluded that “although the chiropractic profession may debate internally about its professional identity, the chiropractic identity seems to have already been established by society, practice, legislation, and education as a profession of health care providers whose area of expertise is spine care.” (4) Beginning with spine care is good for Satterwhite Chiropractic! Spine pain relief builds trust, leading patients to consult us for other health issues. Bring on your Oxford back pain and neck pain! We’ll put on our best scrubs, clothes and/or white coats! Together,  let us, you and Satterwhite Chiropractic, work on getting you feeling better!

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Benjamin Fonke on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson about the integration of exercise and The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management to reduce chronic low back pain.

TIP OF THE MONTH: Exercise for just 10 minutes!

Have back pain? Don’t like to exercise? Satterwhite Chiropractic gets it! What if we told you just 10 minutes can help? When you’re hurting, 10 minutes maybe enticing! A recent study reported that a short 10 minutes, easy-to-perform core stabilization exercise produced significant low back pain relief for chronic low back pain patients. (5) How about that? Effective. Immediate. Non-drug. Ready to try? Let’s talk at your next Oxford chiropractic appointment.
