Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be upsetting,
but it can also affect balance and lead to falls.
Dizziness with associated cervical spine disc degeneration can be
a problem for older folks. Satterwhite Chiropractic shares
new research about chronic neck pain and its relationship
to dizziness as well as the role Oxford chiropractic care contributes
in relief of neck pain and oftentimes
related dizziness.
CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS
Patients with chronic neck pain due
to cervical degenerative disease often experience dizziness as well
as neck pain. Many already-published studies, both clinical and
basic science, detail the relationship of cervical
disc degeneration and dizziness. A new study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was diagnosed in 89% of these patients. Improper neck postures
over long periods of time may be a factor
when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have different
triggers for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and
weeding may initiate general dizziness, especially
in women who are older. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new
surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain explained
that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly indicated
that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness arose from degenerated
cervical spine discs. The dizziness happened with only
cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy.
(2) Such degenerative disc disease
in the neck also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, specifically
inflammatory cytokines that trigger mechanoreceptors like the
Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs leading to
dizziness. The good news: a majority of cervical spine disc disease patients and related dizziness find conservative treatment to be
effective for them. (3) Satterwhite Chiropractic is the home for
conservative chiropractic care of Oxford neck pain and degenerated
cervical discs.
CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR
DIZZINESS
An Australian study of chiropractic care
of neck pain patients who also had dizziness found
that chiropractic is often used by these
patients to manage their neck pain. One in five people over age 70
years experienced neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors reported
that the neck pain and associated dizziness was moderately
responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Satterwhite Chiropractic utilizes
the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration
and its related Oxford neck pain.
